Check out this interview Shelley did with a xfinity reporter at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy. She gives little new details about her new project.
The second half of the season, “Secret Circle” was so strong creatively. How difficult was the cancellation?
We didn’t make the decision. We’re all still really good friends in real life and it was an amazing adventure.
Do you think having been on primetime for most of the year your chances of winning a daytime Emmy?
I don’t think so. I think if anything, it puts you outside. This year we were able to submit clips and I think I was nominated based on a clip I submitted.
Any thoughts to what you’ll say in your acceptance speech if you win?
Hell no. I’ll probably curse like Darin [Brooks] [did] or something.
Would you consider coming back to Days now that “Secret Circle” has ended?
Anything’s possible. I’m working on a show for MTV that will air next year: “Zach Stone is Gonna be Famous” with Bo Burnham. We finish shooting the first season in September. I shot the pilot a year ago. It’s a comedy. So it’s really fun.

Small Town Girl Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Louisiana — a little suburb right outside of New Orleans — and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Spell It Out Where you a good student? Did you like school?
I was a good student, but I was the biggest procrastinator. I was the fastest typist in my school, and I had an obsession with spelling and memorizing. I was the happiest in English class, and algebra was where I cried.

For most audiences, this week’s woman to watch won you over years ago as the crowned victor of both Miss Louisiana Teen USA and Miss Teen USA. Since then, this Destrehan, LA native has gone from attending the ultra-prestigious New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts to landing the role of Stephanie Johnson on one of the world’s lon gest-running television shows, Days of Our Lives, where she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy as an Outstanding Younger Actress.
Currently finishing up her first season on CW’s cult supernatural show The Secret Circle, Shelley Hennig stars as Diana Meade, a young witch discovering the limits of her powers alongside her coven circle while the world outside becomes increasingly hell-bent on destroying them.
Shelley took a break from practicing for her first improv comedy show to speak with us about her new show, the challenges of wearing a crown and how to cause a ruckus at Guantanamo Bay.
Last week, “The Secret Circle” unwrapped one of the biggest surprises of the season: the identity of the other Blackwell in the crew.
Cassie Blake’s half-sister is none other than her one-time romantic rival, Diana. Shelley Hennig couldn’t be more pleased about the revelation surrounding her character. Speaking to Hollywood Crush by phone, she also revealed how pleased she is with our longstanding use of the phrase “The Secret Sibling” in our blog.
“I like how you worded that, ‘The Secret Sibling,’” she said with a chuckle. “That’s amazing.
“I found out [about the revelation] a few days before we started shooting,” she explained. “It wasn’t something that had been circulating with the cast. I was shocked but I also didn’t believe it. I wasn’t convinced, but I was super-excited. It wasn’t until we were actually shooting it that I was like, ‘All right, it’s for real!’ Because they’ll change things. We’ll get a script and then it’ll be completely different the next day. I was excited to have that happen and also to see [where it's going to go].”
The other Balcoin child on The Secret Circle has finally been revealed!
Upon learning that John Blackwell (Joe Lando) had fathered another witch in the Circle, the odds on it being Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) were favorable, especially considering her mother’s crush on Blackwell and Faye’s own affinity for the darker side of magic. But it was innocent Diana (Shelley Hennig) who turned out to be Cassie’s (Britt Robertson) half-sister. Twist!
Now that Diana knows she’s got dark magic in her, will she also go down the same slippery-sloped path as Cassie? TVGuide.com caught up with Hennig to get the scoop on how Diana will handle her newfound family, and how Charles (Gale Harold) will feel about the discovery that his now-deceased wife was unfaithful.
Check out this HollywoodCrush.com interview with our beloved Shelley. Here she will give us a hint about the upcoming two new episodes: Medallion and Valentines.
What’s in-store for Diana on “The Secret Circle”? Party planning, getting all hopped up on Devil’s Spirit, moving on from Adam and siding with Cassie when John Blackwell creates division within the high school witch group, for starters. Speaking to Hollywood Crush by phone, Shelley Hennig told us all about her character’s arc over the next few episodes, her new castmates and her recent private hip-hop dance class.
This week’s episode of “The Secret Circle,” Episode 13 (“Medallion”), finds Diana helping to organize a birthday party for her ex. “Diana has been a planner for years. She loves parties and she loves Adam,” Shelley explained. “She knows it’s Adam’s birthday. It’s on the top of her head, trying to figure out if she should even do anything for him. She has been planning things for him for years, so how would she all of a sudden stop?
TVGuide.com had an interview with Shelley some days ago. Here it what Shelley tells us about Diana’s new love interest, about Diana’s dad and why she thinks Diana could be the other Blackwell Child.
Who is John Blackwell’s other child in The Secret Circle’s coven?
While both audiences and cast wait with bated breath to find out, Circle’s Shelley Hennig thinks the idea of good-girl Diana turning out to be the other Balcoin child would finally explain Diana’s mysterious connection to Cassie (Britt Robertson). TVGuide.com pumped Hennig for scoop on who the other Balcoin child could be, as well as the arrival of Cassie’s seemingly evil father, John Blackwell (Joe Lando). Plus: Sorry, Adam (Thomas Dekker), but Diana’s getting a new love interest!
Hollywoodlife.com have done an interview with Shelley last days. Here is their blog-post about their interview with Shelley about Diana, Diana’s break-up with Adam and, of course, about Fayana and how she thinks this Fayana shipping started. Read a piece below and for more click on “More”.
The first thing you should know about couples on The Secret Circle is that no one ever really breaks up for good — and that’s especially the case with Diana (Shelley Hennig) and Adam (Thomas Dekker), who have been in a weird place ever since they decided to end things. ”You’ll still see Adam going after Diana and Diana going after Adam,” Shelley tells HollywoodLife.com. “We have a lot of cool scenes. There’s still some ‘Diadam’ happening. It’s going in an interesting path.”
As we saw in the last episode of The Secret Circle, Diana (Shelley Hennig) is still trying to be Ms. Nice Girl, even though she’s very clearly the natural leader of this coven. She asserts her authority and wants the others to follow her, but she has yet to really push, always smiling sweetly and almost making audiences wonder how Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) hasn’t shoved her aside just yet. Now with the addition of Cassie (Britt Robertson), though, Diana may, for the first real time, be challenged– not only when it comes to who knows best with their witchcraft, but also with her relationship.
“Adam and Diana have been together for three and a half years, and they truly love each other, but Cassie comes in and adds another layer of confusion,” Hennig teased when LA TV Insider Examiner visited her on the Vancouver set* of The Secret Circle just last week.
